Samsung Galaxy S22+ vs Google Pixel 6 – Detailed Comparison

Today we are back again with another insightful comparison between two of the major flagship products going around. This article will give you inside details about the Google Pixel 6 2021 and Samsung Galaxy S22+

A lot of things were said against and in favor of the Pixel 6 before its official launch in 2021. However, it went really well among the general public and emerged as a surprise hit.

Meanwhile, Samsung has also launched its beautiful S22+ that continues the tradition of top-notch performance as far as Galaxy phones are concerned. The two devices are quite famous and there is a massive support for both of these devices.

So, how do we compare these two? Let’s take a look at some of the key areas of these two machines and analyze their overall performance as well. The Google Pixel 6 was launched four or five months ago whereas the Galaxy S22+ is a recently launched product.

Samsung Galaxy S22+ vs Google Pixel 6

Design

Smartphones have become so common that you can’t differentiate between the designs of two flagship models. Each and every company is making designs that are similar to another company’s flagship phone. However, in this case, we have noticed a different approach to the glass slab, in both Google Pixel 6 and Samsung Galaxy S22+.

They give you a different look from both sides, however; when it comes to size, they look quite the same. The height, width and thickness are almost equal but people have been saying that the Pixel 6 is relatively taller, thicker and heavier than the S22+.

You have got a huge screen in the Galaxy S22+ and the bezels around the screen are very thin. It basically hugs the inside frame of the display closely and compared to Pixel 6’s right angled and chunkier look, it seems very different.

If you put both of them on the table, I guess most people will pick the Pixel 6 because of its appeal and looks. The Pixel 6 is comfortable to hold because the glass curves on the back and the aluminum edge gives you a pronounced rounding.

The camera hump of the Pixel 6 is quite unusual and allows you to place it down on its back without having to worry about wobbling. The Samsung S22+ will have a much better durability in our humble opinion because it packs Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both front and back.

The company calls it Armour Aluminum and claims that it stays more durable and is scratch resistant as well. As far as the Pixel 6 is concerned, you’d get a Gorilla Glass Victus on the front and Gorilla Glass 6 on the back. It is also an extremely strong component. The two devices are also water and dust resistant to the same IP68 rating.

Display

Samsung Galaxy S22+ vs Google Pixel 6Let’s talk about displays now. It is one of the major parts of any smartphone and we’re delighted to explore the Samsung Galaxy S22+ and the Google Pixel 6 in this regard.

The Pixel 6 sits in the middle of S22 and S22+ as it gives you a screen size of 6.4-inches. The S22+ is approximately 6.6-inches and the older S22 offers just 6.1-inches of display diagonally.

Both of them gives you a Full-HD resolution, however; Samsung is a bit larger in display and offers a bit less pixel density. This little difference is not entirely notable though. In terms of color, sharpness and brightness, the overall experience of both is fantastic.

The difference of size may just tilt the support in favor of Samsung as far as our customers are concerned. Extra-large screen gives you a little extra pleasure while watching movies or playing your favorite games. Samsung also gives you a large screen with peak brightness and the overall contrast and brightness level is incredible as well.

Furthermore, Samsung will also give you a faster refresh rate as it packs 120 Hz compared to Google’s 90 Hz. Samsung also produces splendid results as far as battery timings are concerned.

Battery & Performance

The Samsung Galaxy S22+ is offering a powerful flagship processor unlike the Google Pixel 6. In USA and China, the S22+ packs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and in most of everyday markets, it gives you the Exynos 2200. On the other hand, the Pixel 6 offers a Tensor processor.

We don’t believe in these online tests a lot but Samsung had a better multi-core score in Geekbench. It went up to 3300 compared to Pixel’s 2400. The overall speed of Samsung was slightly better than the Pixel 6 as it opened the apps and webpages a little quicker than the Google Pixel 6.

Also, the Pixel 6 opened some of the pages a bit quicker than the Samsung Galaxy S22. Both devices are powerful and very much recommended.

As far as the battery life is concerned, the difference is again pretty minimal in everyday use. We are not going to put a lot of emphasis on this category as battery life also depends on day-to-day usage of a person.

Camera quality

If we put it simply, the Galaxy is offering a huge 50 MP camera with f/1.8 primary w/OIS – 10MP f/2.4 3x telephoto zoom w/OIS and a 12 MP f/2.4 ultrawide lens. On the other hand, the Pixel 6 is coming with 50MP f/1.9 primary w/OIS and a 12 MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens. The Samsung Galaxy will allow you to make 8K video at 24 fps and 4K video at 60 fps. Similarly, the Pixel 6 also allows you to make 4K video at 60 fps.

Cameras are very important these days, aren’t they? Samsung has got an extra lens in this category and with the help of its telephoto zoom lens, you can get a maximum zoom of up to 3x. The picture quality is quite sharp and detailed as well. The Google Pixel 6 is only offering main and ultrawide lens with a 2x zoom effect combined with a decent detail. Still, you cannot compare it to the 3x zoom provided by Samsung.

Samsung’s camera is all about colors in particular. You can call the photos clicked by S22+ a bit over saturated but, that’s how they detail in their cameras. The contrast is also a bit lesser in the Samsung Galaxy S22+.

The selfie cameras of the Google Pixel 6 went a bit crushed and contrast-heavy in daylight. In low light conditions, we feel that the Pixel 6 did a better job in reducing the noise in the shadows. Samsung is not bad at clicking pictures in low light conditions, however; we truly feel that the pictures taken on the Pixel 6 were a bit more natural and contrasting.

Software

A lot of people do not care about the software in their gadgets. However, we absolutely love the Android 12 on the Pixel 6 as it gives you big, colorful controls with a refreshing interface as well.

Samsung is offering a pretty much traditional Android interface with smaller controls and toggles. There are lots of Samsung apps that can be used or installed on your phone, however; you can also use the Google apps on both these products.

In Google Pixel 6, almost all huge Android updates come available as soon as they are announced or deployed. Samsung has also been doing a fine job as far as their own updates and security prompts are concerned. They have also got security patches ahead of Google on some occasions.

Price-tag

So far, we have discussed a lot of qualities of these two devices and we were amazed to see that the difference in price is not huge at all. You can get the latest Samsung Galaxy S22+ for almost $799.99 and on the other hand, the Pixel 6 is easily $200 cheaper.

If your budget can’t access the Samsung S22+ then there is no need to worry. The Pixel 6 is pretty much similar in terms of performance and will save you a few bucks as well.

Verdict: Samsung Galaxy S22+ vs Google Pixel 6

It is very clear that Samsung will outperform the Pixel 6 in some departments related to hardware. The overall speed, display and performance is better in the Galaxy S22+. On the other hand, if you like to have color-rich display with high-quality camera results and higher resolution, you can choose the Google Pixel 6.

We are not saying that the entire camera quality is better than the Galaxy S22+, however; some of its internal components make it a better overall choice as far as clicking pictures in different environments and conditions are concerned.

The software installed in the Pixel 6 is also quite helpful and likeable. Therefore, we’d say that both of these devices try its best present you with the best quality in any manner they can.

Although, we are a bit baffled by the difference in the price-tag. That’s it from our side. Write it down in the comments below if you have any questions regarding this analytical comparison. We shall try and answer you as soon as possible. Keep working hard and chase your dreams because, they do come true. Good luck and goodbye until we meet again.
